Register now to attend the virtual ARCH Workshop, "Multiple Hypothesis Correction" hosted by Joshua Garrison Burkhart, Ph.D.
Workshop Description:
Learn to adjust for multiple comparisons using methods such as Bonferroni and Benjamini-Hochberg through hands-on exercises with synthetic datasets, building practical skills to confidently apply these techniques in your research.
Date/Time: Thursday, April 17, 2025 - 3:00 PM CT/4:00 PM ET
Location: Virtual Workshop. Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
Prerequisites for Workshop:
The session is designed for those with a basic understanding of statistical testing, p-values, and some programming experience in Python, using synthetic datasets with realistic statistical testing scenarios for hands-on demonstrations.
Datasets & Tools:
Datasets: Use sample datasets that include multiple testing scenarios—these could be either simulated or derived from real research examples.
Tools: Employ programming environments like Python (with libraries such as statsmodels or SciPy) or R (using built-in functions or packages like p.adjust) to demonstrate correction techniques.
Expected Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
1. Understand the issues arising from performing multiple statistical tests.
2. Recognize common correction techniques, such as the Bonferroni method and the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure.
3. Gain practical experience in applying these correction methods to real datasets.
4. Develop the confidence to implement multiple hypothesis correction in your own research projects.
