Title: "Generative AI for Biomedical Decisions"

Instructors:
  • Sambit Panda, Ph.D. (AI Research Scientist @ University of Texas at San Antonio MATRIX AI Consortium)
  • Christian Cruz (AI Engineer @ University of Texas at San Antonio MATRIX AI Consortium)
When: April 29, 2025, 3 PM Central Time / 4 PM Eastern Time

Description: Increasingly, generative AI models have shown a lot of promise in a variety of biomedical applications, such as Alpha-Fold for generating sequences of proteins and Evo for generating DNA sequences. This workshop gives an overview of current state-of-the-art methods for biomedical applications and how users can get started using code.

Learning objectives:

  • Provide a general understanding of how LLMs work and how performance of the models can be modified
  • Walk through practical implementation of these models using Python code examples and the OpenAI API
