Workshop Description:
Learn to load, preprocess, and analyze healthcare data using Jupyter notebooks and Python tools such as Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib, gaining hands-on experience in healthcare data wrangling.

Date/Time: Thursday, May 29, 2025 - 1:00 PM PT / 3:00 PM CT / 4:00 PM ET

Location: Virtual Workshop. The Zoom link will be provided upon registration.

Prerequisites for Workshop:
Basic familiarity with data analysis, computational notebooks, and programming is helpful but not required.
This workshop is intended to be accessible to researchers and practitioners from a variety of backgrounds, and will be presented in two parts, with more basic/introductory material covered in Part 1, and slightly more advanced techniques covered in Part 2.

Datasets & Tools:
This workshop will include a brief slide-show presentation followed by a more lengthy hands-on module in Jupyter notebooks.
Access to the hands-on modules will be provided in 3 different ways:
1) through Google Colab (gmail/google account required),
2) through mybinder.org (no account required), or
3) local installation of source code and necessary packages following instructions provided on the module's Github repository (link to be provided at the beginning of the workshop to participants).
This workshop will be utilizing synthetically generated healthcare data tracking patient conditions, diagnoses, lab tests, vital signs, and more.

Expected Outcomes:
Attendees will gain hands-on experience wrangling, visualizing, and analyzing healthcare data using industry-standard tools such as Python, Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, and others.
